What is it?  You, tell me!


Do you recognize these tubes you see above.  They look like three of them could be the same, don't they.  Looking at the center structure, it would seem so.  What do you think?

I'll give you a little help in the next picture below where you can see the tube type numbers on the glass.


Here you have tubes marked as a 7591A, 6L6-EH, 7027, and 5881 which are made as DIRECT
replacements for many of the current and vintage amplifiers we still have with us today.
How come three of them look the same, when the types they are to replace are so different?

 

But, are they really DIRECT replacements for the ORIGINALS?
Take a look below, and decide for yourself.

As Direct Replacements, for the above, you would think they would look like these ORIGINALS.


Kind a makes you wonder, if these tubes will really perform as DIRECT replacements,
and will they be around as long as these ORIGINALS have been.
